Five zones from FTP and FTP per kilogram
Functional threshold power, FTP
FTP per kilogram of body mass
This is the FTP you entered divided by your body mass. It cannot tell you a suitable weight or a result over a distance
| Zone | % of threshold | Power, W |
|---|---|---|
| Z1Easy, recovery | up to 55 | up to 110 |
| Z2Easy, endurance | 55 to 76 | 110 to 152 |
| Z3Moderate, tempo | 76 to 91 | 152 to 182 |
| Z4Hard, around threshold | 91 to 106 | 182 to 212 |
| Z5Hard, above threshold | 106 and above | 212 and above |

How the TriCoo plan is builtHow we calculate
Each zone is a share of FTP: up to 55, from 55 to 76, from 76 to 91, from 91 to 106 and from 106 percent. The calculator multiplies your FTP by these shares and shows the watts. A bound between zones belongs to the harder zone.
FTP per kilogram is FTP divided by body mass. The calculator does not rate this number and does not suggest what your weight should be.
Common questions
Why five zones when Coggan has seven?
The original Coggan system has seven levels. The TriCoo scale has five zones, and all power from 106 % of FTP falls into Z5. So the top TriCoo zone is wider than level five of the original system.
How do I find my FTP?
With a 20-minute field test, as described on the Threshold tests page. Without a power meter, TriCoo sets bike sessions by heart rate and feel, see Cycling without a power meter.
How often should I update my zones?
Zones change with your FTP. In a TriCoo plan this happens on its own when the threshold is updated.
